Cranberry juice is extremely beneficial for women to drink daily. It helps prevent and fight all kinds of things like heart disease, urinary tract infections, bladder infections and yeast infections. However, its rather difficult to find true cranberry juice these days. It feels like cranberry cocktail has wiped out the world's supply of actual cranberry juice. And no,
cranberry cocktail is NOT the same thing! It is cranberry juice that has been reduced to a high fructose format (which is just sugar) and then frozen, and melted again, and then mixed with some water and more sugar. Aside from the extra sugar, that process provides a bunch of opportunities for oxidation to occur. By the time its back in your glass and you're drinking it, all the valuable minerals and nutrients are practically gone. You are left with sugary water.
So, now that we've established that cranberry cocktail is a very crappy replacement for actual cranberry juice, lets discuss the reason cranberry cocktail is so common. Well, cranberries are extremely tart and not very sweet at all. Drinking pure cranberry juice would surely require a serious love for tart flavors. Therefore, people drink cranberry cocktail because its drinkable. But that's really not a good reason. If you can get your hands on pure cranberry juice, mixing it with some pure apple juice (
NOT COCKTAIL) is about a hundred times better for you than drinking pure cranberry cocktail.
So, if you have a juicer, try out this recipe. You'll see what
real cranberry juice tastes like. I think you'll be surprised what the cocktails have been calling cranberry juice! If you suffer from frequent yeast infections, bladder infections or urinary tract infections, stop drinking that cranberry cocktail and get yourself a juicer so you can have some of the real stuff. I guarantee that you will notice significant improvements. Also, be sure to eat yogurts with active bacterial cultures (probiotic is always best) daily.
Ingredients:
- 2 granny smith apples
- 1/2 cup cranberries
Directions
- Clean and cut the above ingredients to the right size for your juicer.
- Start off with some apple, then mix in some cranberries, and continue juicing a mixture or alternating, ending with the apple.
- Taste the goodness of real cranberry juice!
